David Browne is an Architectural Blacksmith, Designer and Metal Sculptor.
Founded in 2002, David Browne Metal Design emerged with a mission to provide original creative design in conjunction with the highest quality custom forged metalwork available anywhere in the country. Since then, DBMD has built a solid reputation as one of the premier artistic metalworking studios in Southern California. Our clients range from discerning homeowners, contractors and architects to small businesses and corporate institutions seeking unique branding materials and public art.
David, along with his photographer wife Jo and their feisty cattle dog Scout reside on a small farm in the foothills of rural San Diego County. David is the current President of the Allied Craftsmen of San Diego.

“I am fascinated by fire and the endless possibilities that can be achieved when one combines glowing yellow-hot steel with forceful persuasion. Stylistically, my sculptural work is rooted in traditional craft using industrial forging techniques and is informed by a love of primitive structures, architecture, the rugged Sawtooth mountains of Idaho and my early work in ceramics.”
